Two current hype and rumo(u)r ’service’ sites that are currently in stealth mode.
Hypesphere focuses on finding the people who are creating hype in different social spheres where else Truemors allows users to post rumo(u)rs via call-ins, SMSes or the web.
Stockholm based Hypesphere is an Internet-based social ranking network focused on ranking people. Every user on Hypesphere can link their Personal Internet Assets (blogs, photos, podcasts and videos) to a personal profile page. The user is voted on by the community and get’s a HypeRank.
This is Guy Kawasaki’s latest venture. Trumors, which is built on the Wordpress platform, is a category-based rumor site where anyone can phone, text or email in a rumor. The company has partnered with Spinvox to allow people to leave rumors by voice. Spinvox then converts them to text for posting on the site.
More information on Truemors here. The founders of Hypeshere will be presenting at Podcamp Europe next month. I will be meeting them soon so look forward for more updates.
For the biotech industry, the rumor mill from Biofind is a popular site for finding out industry gossip but I guess Truemors would be more general (Techcrunch has a screenshot) and might cover the internet industry as well.
About Hypesphere, it’s a good change I guess. I see so many social networks popping up and this is a truly different idea all together. I can foresee some elevated egos in the next few months. ![]()
