In a nutshell…who are you and what do you do?
I’ve just finished my work at MMS (Mediameasurements in Scandinavia) investigating the consumption behaviour of moving pictures on different platforms. I’m currently working together with Fabian Bonnier on a new project, the Fri TV initiative. We’re trying to facilitate video distribution on the web and enable advertising on that distribution.
This sounds revolutionary to a certain extent. Explain more.
The idea is not about revolutionizing the way we watch stuff, it’s more about creating new business models for the content owners/distributors/aggregators. We want to organize the current chaos in an industry where nobody’s really making any money. The viewers are there, the behaviour is there and the content is also partly there even if it’s “illegal”.
Any insights into the technology?
It’s not rocket science, but we’ll develop some nice tools.
LOL. Nice way of saying “mind your own business”.
Are there any competitors out there?
There are some American companies out there doing something like this, but not really. Things are however happening every week in this industry, so there will definitely be some soon!
Biz model, biz model, biz model.
The business model is not official yet. (I bet the future competitors read your blog

Semi-big news from Google on two levels. One: They have just launched their own google channel over at Youtube so that Googlers can post presentations about company matters or stand etc. Second: Youtube launches their online video editing service called Youtube Remixer.
Apart from Photobucket, who recently launched their online video editing service with Adobe, Jaycut, the social online media editing service, now also faces competition from the heavyweight fighter Google.
OMG, Apple is venturing into cars now! It comes as no surprise to me as to who they chose as their partner. Mercedes has always been the industry leader by far when it comes to in-ride innovation. Their S class introduced the world to anti-lock brakes, airbags, electronic control and a partnership with Apple definitely looks beneficial to both sides. Mercedes stays ahead of the curve and Apple enters an extremely new market.
It would be interesting to see how Microsoft or Google reacts to this. Would they jump into partnerships with other car companies? Would they wait to see how this turns up before deciding anything? Do they have secret discussions with car companies already? Microsoft Surface as car seats? Google Maps as navigation systems?
NOW, I am definitely looking forward to the newer episodes of Top Gear.
Wow, the lineup looks fantastic so far. Their site looks awesome as well. I am talking about SIME 2007. This conference was co-founded by Beata Wickbom, one of the moderators at Hej! 2007. Be sure to check out last year’s video and be inspired. You can pre-register here.
