Yes you heard it right. Stanford has announced that there would be a class focusing on creating facebook apps. Awesome stuff! You can check out the class facebook group here. Why don’t we have stuff like this here at NUS? To find out more, I have emailed the Dean of School of Computing regarding this and will keep you guys updated on this matter.

To be honest, this is the lamest course I’ve ever seen the Stanford CS Dept offer. Creating a Facebook app is as easy as creating any other website. It might be a little bit interesting to people interested in social interactions, media, etc but it is extremely boring from a CS perspective.
I would like it if NUS had a course and official teams participating in the Netflix Prize (http://www.netflixprize.com/). Some good CS schools in the US already offer such courses.

ic ic i didnt know it would be boring from a cs point of view…but from a “adapting to the new media, fresh classes, innovation” point of view, I think it’s excellent.
