Folks, lads, chaps, some friends and I will be organising Asia’s first Facebook Developer Garage in Singapore next Wednesday. Yep! It’s the first in Asia alright. Previous garages were held to great success in San Fransisco, Toronto, Seattle and London. Apart from Singapore, there would be a couple more upcoming garages in Cape Town and Vancouver.

We’re already in touch with some really cool people and developers ( :D ) . Look below for more information.

Venue: Tentatively National University of Singapore Staff Club (map soon)
Date: 24th October 2007
Time: 6pm onwards
Dinner will be provided.
Bring your laptops. Please.

We’ve also created a Facebook group so if you’re in the neighbourhood do pop by and chill with us.

Good friend, David Haddad, has just started a smart blog about mobile location based services. I loved the site the moment I entered and saw the tag line. Cheers.

Holy Cow. Thumbs up to Jyri and the gang!

Other coverage here and here and here and here. It’s cool to know that the guys we got as speakers at the Hej! 2007 conference early this year got acquired by Google!

Personally I had communicated with Jyri (though emails) and Andy Smith and you know what, honestly, these guys deserve every bit of attention they’re getting at the moment. Wishing them all the best in the future…and wait a second, does this mean a) first Mobile Adsense, now this, then google-phone? b) more jaiku users in Singapore? c) What’s the next big idea from Jyri and co? ;)

Rock on guys. Finland explodes, Sweden rejoices, Singapore wakes up.

So Spotify, when is your turn?

[How apt. Look at my previous post ;) ]

[Here’s the guy apparently behind the acquisition on the GooG side]

[There are rumours about the possible acquisition price being in the range of 20 to 30million USD. But one will have to wait and see I guess…Maybe there could be a performance related clause just like the Skype-eBay deal]

Google acqusition!

There are countless of Google acquisition rumors floating on the net. Sirius, XM Satellite Radio, Napster, Monster etc etc. Well not all of them makes any sense. So if you’re free and upto the “challenge”, go create a rumor yourself.

Sources close to Google said (name of day) that the company is in talks to buy (company) for $(number) billion. A deal would give the online advertising leader a strong position in (industry). Sources said discussions were still in (adjective) stages and that talks could (verb.) Although Google has made several acquisitions lately, analysts said it can still afford more since the company has $12.5 billion in cash and a market value of $177 billion. (Exclamation!)

Thanks to CNN.

I will be attending this event from tomorrow onwards at NTU’s School of Art, Design and Media. The day will be broken down into four sessions, Media Arts, R&D, New Media, New Geographies and Creative Ideas, Business Plans.

I have arranged for Johan Stael Von Holstein, who will be in Singapore during this period, to speak on the second day of this event at the labs.

Singapore is one of the five stops of this global media event. Others are Mumbai, Melbourne, London and Beijing.

I will be bringing my laptop to cover this event live and also hoping to nail a couple of online interviews. Stay tuned for the live blogging in the next couple of days. Special thanks to Bjorn for helping me hook up with the organisers.

I am linking you to Ko Htike’s blog where he narrates the current situation in Yangdon (and Burma) as they happen. He has a network of around 10 or so (underground) friends who are supplying him with information such as pictures, videos and so on.

Let’s hope that this situation ends peacefully.
