Stumble it! Del.icio.us it!

Justin Smith from InsideFacebook wrote about our Facebook class. Thought I could let you know. He interviewed our professor, Ben Leong, regarding his motivations behind the class and so on. Anyways, it feels good to be part of the pioneer class. :)

InteresThink: A Ted Talk like event this Saturday

InteresThink is a non-profit organisation that aims to bring people and ideas from different disciplines and of different industries together. And they’re having this TED Talk like event this Saturday at the National Library Board. If you have not heard of TED Talks, you shouldn’t be surfing the internet. Kapish.

This event brings back alot of memories you know. Their blog reminds me of what we had for our Hej! 07 conference in Stockholm last year…

Anyways, a few of us would be attending this event, might be live blogging as well..haven’t done this in a long while. Their speaker and audience lists are quite diverse; they have filmmakers, authors, gay activists etc. I can daresay that this might be the first of a kind multi-disciplinary event in Singapore. :)

Have to admit I haven’t had the opportunity to immerse myself into events and whatnots as much as the previous year (s). Tied down with too many things…including wrapping up my final semester in uni. Hope to find the time these days .. . So yeah, if you have nothing to do this Saturday, head on down to The Pod, National Library Board @ Bugis for some eye-opening speeches and good company.

Facebook Developer Garages everywhere! There’s one coming up in Singapore, Sydney, Stockholm and Kuala Lumpur. Wouldn’t it be nice to have it all organised on the same day? ;)

This video made me cringe…it was made by the Media Development Authority of Singapore.
Update - Techcrunch blogged about it too!

I will be attending this event from tomorrow onwards at NTU’s School of Art, Design and Media. The day will be broken down into four sessions, Media Arts, R&D, New Media, New Geographies and Creative Ideas, Business Plans.

I have arranged for Johan Stael Von Holstein, who will be in Singapore during this period, to speak on the second day of this event at the labs.

Singapore is one of the five stops of this global media event. Others are Mumbai, Melbourne, London and Beijing.

I will be bringing my laptop to cover this event live and also hoping to nail a couple of online interviews. Stay tuned for the live blogging in the next couple of days. Special thanks to Bjorn for helping me hook up with the organisers.

Nothing new to me…

If there is any better time to consider venturing into Singapore for any internet related web2.0 social media entrepreneurship user generated participatory business, the time is now. Yes, I study there and No, this is not a biased post. These are just based on facts. Enjoy and contemplate. =) AND yes, I am Malaysian. Grrr.

Excerpts from Kevin Lim’s blog post about Nexus 2007.

First, I shared some statistics on Wikipedia contributors, where the top anonymous contributor was in fact, a Singaporean (hat tip to Dan Li). Ms. Jennifer of STOMP chimed in with how Jimmy Wales has once visited Singapore to meet our avid contributors, and became pleasantly surprised when most of them turned out to be young Secondary school boys and girls. This puts Singapore in a unique position where we have a far younger contributor demographic compared to the rest of the world.
